CODE YELLOW: A CAUTIONARY STATEMENT FOR ROUGH SEAS IS IN EFFECT
MARINE FORECAST FOR SEAS AROUND CURAÇAO:
.
Synopsis:
A high pressure system is the dominant feature and it will keep strong winds
over the Southern Caribbean region. Reasoning this, fairly rough sea conditions
can be expected over the most exposed areas windward of the island. In addition
a tropical wave currently moving over the central Caribbean basin will
contribute to increased moisture levels across the ABC Islands, supporting areas
of cloud development. Occasional passing cloud patches may produce brief showers
over Curaçao by daybreak. Also, chances for some thunder rumble is present.
Weather:
Partly cloudy, temporarily mostly cloudy with chance for scattered showers.
Visibility:
18 to 28 kilometer. Deteriorates further in possible rain activity.
Winds:
Easterly and moderate fresh; force 4 to 5 (20 to 39 km/h, 11 to 21 knots).
Occasional higher gusts, strong to possibly near gale force; force 6 to 7 (40 to
61 km/h, 22 to 33 knots).
Seas:
Generally moderate with wave heights between 1.5 and 2.5 meter (4 and 8 feet).
The highest wave action is over the north and east near coastal and exposed
waters. Boaters are advised to be cautious when over or transiting these
sections.
.
Local wind forecast for the next 48 hours:
Easterly and moderate to fresh; force 4 to 5 (20 to 39 km/h, 11 to 21 knots).
A few occasional gusts to strong; force 6 (40 to 50 km/h, 22 to 27 knots).
.
