STATEMENT FOR ROUGH SEAS IS IN EFFECT FOR NORTHERN AND
EASTERN COASTAL SECTIONS OF CURAÇAO.
Weather: Partly to mainly cloudy with scattered showers and an occasional
thunderstorm.
Forecast high will be 30ºC, and the low will be 26ºC.
Sunrise will occur at 06:11 and sunset at 19:01.
Winds:
Easterly and moderate to fresh; force 4 to 5 (20 to 39 km/h, 11 to 21
knots). Occasionally strong to sometimes near gale in gusts; force 6 to 7 (40 to
61 km/h, 22 to 33 knots).
Synopsis:
Two tropical waves continue to move across the eastern Caribbean sea
providing sufficient moisture effecting the weather within our region. The
development of cloud clusters can cause scattered showers with an occasional
thunderstorm over our region. Sea conditions are expected to be moderate, caused
by quite a lot of wind.
Sea conditions:
Moderate to quite rough with wave heights of 1.5 to 2.5 meters (4
to 8 feet). The highest waves are mainly located over the northern and eastern
part of the island. It is advised that mariners navigate with caution and
swimmers avoid venturing far from shore. As a result, a cautionary statement for
rough seas (code yellow) is in effect.
