Forecast

Weather Forecast for Curaçao and surroundings valid until Saturday midday 12:00 l.t., August 16, 2025.

Issued:
Friday August 15, 2025, 11:00 l.t. (15:00 UTC).

Weather:
Partly cloudy skies with predominantly dry conditions, though a brief, light shower cannot be ruled out. Winds gradually easing from the southeast. Forecast high will be 33ºC, and the low will be 27ºC. Sunrise will occur at 06:25 and sunset at 18:56.

Winds:
Easterly to southeasterly and light to moderate; force 2 to 4 (7 to 30 km/h, 4 to 16 knots). A few occasional gusts to fresh; force 5 (31 to 39 km/h, 17 to 21 knots).

Synopsis:
A westward-moving tropical wave currently positioned over the ABC Islands is contributing to elevated moisture levels across the region. Despite this, predominantly dry weather is expected today, as atmospheric conditions remain generally unfavorable for significant cloud development. However, isolated and brief showers may still occur locally due to pockets of instability. Winds will gradually shift to a southeasterly direction and are expected to weaken further into tomorrow. Overnight, scattered showers may develop, driven by an influx of moisture from the east-southeast.

Sea conditions:
Slight with wave heights between 0.5 and 1 meter (2 and 4 feet).

Significant tropical weather systems:
Tropical Storm Erin, located east of the northern Leeward Islands, is moving west-northwest and is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane later today, with further intensification into a Category 3 major hurricane by Sunday. Forecast models consistently show Erin passing near or just north of the northern Leeward Islands this weekend, keeping the system well away from Curaçao with no direct threat to our island.

Special features:
None.

Outlook until Sunday midday:
Partly to mostly cloudy skies will prevail this weekend, with a slight risk of thunderstorms. A calm wind regime is expected, which may lead to slightly warmer perceived temperatures.

Forecaster:
Kasmani.

The next weather forecast will be issued on Friday 17:00 l.t. (21:00 UTC).
