MARINE FORECAST FOR SEAS AROUND CURAƇAO:

CODE YELLOW: A CAUTIONARY STATEMENT FOR ROUGH SEAS FOR THE NORTH AND EAST
FACING SHORES.
.

Synopsis:
During the next 24 hours, no significant changes in the weather pattern over our
island are expected. Weather conditions will remain partly to mostly cloudy,
while a high-pressure system together with a relatively dry atmospheric
environment continues to dominate.

Weather
Partly to locally mostly cloudy skies, accompanied by slight haze, though
conditions will remain predominantly dry. A firm wind regime continues and winds
may strengthen at times.

Visibility:
20 to 30 kilometer.

Winds:
Easterly and moderate to fresh; force 4 to 5 (20 to 39 km/h, 11 to 21 knots).
Occasionally strong to possibly near gale in gusts; force 6 to 7 (40 to 61 km/h,
22 to 33 knots).

Seas:
Moderate to quite rough with wave heights between 1.5 and 2.5 meters (4 and 8
feet). The highest waves are located north and east of island. For this reason,
a cautionary statement for rough seas (Code Yellow) is in force and advises
swimmers and sailors to exercise caution.

.
Local wind forecast for the next 48 hours:
Easterly and moderate to fresh; force 4 to 5 (20 to 39 km/h, 11 to 21 knots).
Occasionally strong in gusts; force 6 (40 to 50 km/h, 22 to 27 knots).
.
Synopsis...The pressure gradient between high pressure north of
the area and relatively lower pressures in northern South
America will support fresh to strong trades over the south-
central Caribbean into early next week creating rough seas over
these waters. Fresh to strong trades will also pulse each
evening over the Gulf of Honduras. Mostly moderate trades
elsewhere across the basin will begin to increase in coverage
starting early next week as stronger Atlantic high pressure
begins to shift southeastward tightening the pressure gradient.
